[Switch-2.5] Low Speed Common Troubleshooting steps for Tenda Switches

 2024-07-29   2500

This Article Applies to:

Common troubleshooting steps for Tenda switches

This Article Applies to:All switches

The troubleshooting of Tenda switches can be carried out according to the following steps:

  1. Check the physical connection: Ensure that the connection between the switch and other devices is correct and the network cable plug is plugged in tightly. Check if the network cable is damaged or loose, and verify if the cable sequence is standard.

2. Check the power supply: Confirm that the power adapter of the switch is connected correctly and whether the power indicator light is on. If the power indicator light is not on, it may be a power failure. Use a multimeter to test whether the voltage is the standard voltage and whether the output voltage of the adapter is lower than the rated value.

3. Observe the indicator lights: Check the indicator lights on the switch. Different indicator lights may indicate different issues, such as port connection status, link speed, etc. Based on the indication of the indicator light, preliminarily determine the location of the fault. The gigabit switch port is normally green, negotiating gigabit, yellow is negotiating 100Mbps, and is in a flashing state during normal operation.

4. Check ports: Check if each port is working properly. You can try replacing the device connected to the faulty port to another port to determine whether it is a port issue or a device issue. Using a network cable to loop back two ports can test whether the hardware of the device ports is normal.

5. Test network connection: Use ping command or other network testing tools to test whether the network connection between the switch and other devices is normal. If there are packet loss or latency issues, it may be due to network configuration or link problems.

6. Restart the switch: Simply restarting the switch can solve some temporary faults.

7. Contact manufacturer support: If none of the above steps can solve the problem。

When troubleshooting, one can follow the principle of starting with the easy and then moving on to the difficult, gradually eliminating possible causes of the malfunction. At the same time, pay attention to recording the fault symptoms and troubleshooting process, in order to better communicate with technical support personnel and solve problems.
