1. Check physical connections: Make sure the connections between the switch and other devices are correct and that the cable plugs are firmly inserted. Check whether the network cable is damaged or loose, and check whether the network cable sequence is standard.

2. Check power supply: Make sure the power adapter of the switch is correctly connected and check if the power indicator light is on. If the power indicator light is not on, it may be a power failure. Use a multimeter to test if the voltage is at the standard level and check if the output voltage of the adapter is below the rated value.

3. Observing indicator lights: Check the indicator lights on the switch. Different indicator lights may indicate different issues, such as port connection status, link speed, etc. Based on the indications of the lights, make an initial judgment on where the fault may lie. For a gigabit switch, a green light on the port indicates normal operation, a yellow light indicates negotiation at 100 Mbps, and a blinking light indicates normal operation.

4. Port checking: Checking if each port is functioning properly. You can try moving a device connected to a faulty port to another port to determine if the issue is with the port or the device. By looping back two ports with a network cable, you can test if the hardware of the device port is working properly.

5. Testing network connection: Using the ping command or other network testing tools to test whether the network connection between a device and a switch, as well as between other devices, is functioning properly. If there are packet loss or latency issues, it could be due to network configuration or link problems.

6. Rebooting a switch simply means turning it off and then back on again. This can help resolve temporary issues that may be causing the switch to malfunction.
